Southwest Power and Light, a retail electricity provider, announced the response to its new Plant-A-Tree Plans launched this past Arbor Day as part of a continued effort to support the opportunity for future generations to camp, hunt, fish, and enjoy the great State of Texas.

Since its launch on April 28, Southwest's Plant-A-Tree Program has already resulted in the planting of close to 2,000 trees with the Arbor Day Foundation.

"The Plant-A-Tree Plans offer Southwest's customer base the opportunity to take a proactive step towards being a good steward of our forests and wildlife when deciding which electricity company they choose," noted Jeff James, VP of Marketing at Southwest Power and Light. "We are ecstatic to see so many customers choose these new plans since the launch. It truly gives customers an easy way to make an impact on the future of our forests with every flip of a switch. We attribute thanks to our customers above all else."

On an annual basis, Southwest expects at least 18 trees to be planted per year based on an average residential customer's electricity usage in Texas, which is estimated to be at least 18,000 kWh per year per household.

"Our partnership with The Arbor Day Foundation assures customers that the trees will be planted properly in a way that will ensure their future," noted Jennifer Keefe, Corporate Counsel of Southwest Power and Light.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit conservation organization.
